Hi, can anyone help, I have been paying PPI on my mortgage since 1996 and when we took the mortgage out we were told that we had to take the PPI cover. Is this true, if not can I claim the back as I can get the same cover alot cheaper. The TSB say in 1996 It had to be taken out with the mortgage but now the rules have changed. If I can claim who do I send the letter to, local branch or head office.

Back in the mid 90s, Lloyds did have some mortgage deals that you only get the special terms if you bought an insurance product. That was allowable back then. It was not uncommon for the insurance to be held for a year and then cancelled. However, most kept it running.can I claim the back as I can get the same cover alot cheaper.
That is not suitable grounds for claiming the premiums back. Nothing stops you moving to a different provider now though.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
