  • I,ve just moved from Bradford + Bingley to Yorkshire BS,I put enough into my new account to cover my direct debits and standing orders for a month then I phoned all of them but also used the YBS switching team.I had a few problems (nat-west,hsbc and Scottish gas) but because I could tell them when I phoned any charges etc were soon removed.
The wife moved from Clydesdale to Nationwide two years ago and is glad she did.
I have a deep burning indifference

I'm interested to hear too. For example, if the dds and sos get messed up are you still liable for the charges!!!!!

Nationwide are strict on giving debit cards out for their accounts. I would try opening an account with them to see what happens. If you are been declined for a debit card, go to another bank. They have good customer service.

The advantage of Nationwide is their good savings (used to be, but after the recession, the rate would improve) and free overseas (or low cost) card transactions.
  • Nationwide say they will give a free overdraft if any problems with the bank transfer!
  • Isn't it Nationwide which has a Faster Payments limit of £10?
