If you'd be able to send me some details so that I can investigate I will look into how this payment has been taken and make sure that it gets refunded asap for you.

Thanks Becca but i've been in touch with head office and spoke to a lady who said she'll send me a cheque with a full refund, so hopefully thats the end of it. But i do advise you to tell them who evers in charge of customer service to get it sorted out.

Don't hold your breathe, what Aviva staff say they will do and what they actually do are often two very different things.

I think i will get a cheque after all i don't think they would really want me to go to the ombudsman about whats happened especially taking money from my bank account wihtout authorisation :rotfl:

You would not be the first person it has happened to and I doubt you will be the last person it will happen to.

A cheque is a strange way to refund money taken by bank transfer!! Money laundering

    I can can confirm that.

After I emailed becca about our problem my wife did get a letter from Aviva's contact support office assuring her that the problem had been resolved, and also received an amended policy doc for the breakdown insurance.

But then yesterday she received a letter from Aviva's 'Direct Collections' office claiming an amount of £48.05 was overdue and this could invalidate her breakdown insurance. I tried telephoning the 0800 contact number but the lines are closed for 'maintenance'.

My patience with Aviva is wearing a bit thin and I have to wonder what horrors are in store should we ever need to make a claim.

I quit from the start Galba, after the messing around starting a policy with them i did wonder how horrendous it would be if i ever made a claim so ended my policy within the 14 days, so shouldn't have cost me anything if they hadn't taken the £280 out again later lol
I rung +44 (0)20 7283 2000 its the number for head office, try it you never know. But saying that i don't have my cheque yet so can't even guarentee its worked for me yet!!!
