Fridge/freezer or separates???

I need a fridge freezer, but I am very confused after a visit to local elec shops. Why are combined f/freezers more expensive than separates?
I have put fridges on top of freezers for several years (well fixed!) with no problem. Wanted neater look in new kitchen, but not willing to pay extra for it!
Any ideas or help? Or do I go back to my old ways?

Which combined units are you looking at? This http://www.comet.co.uk/shopcomet/product/479667/INDESIT-BAAN12S is £250 and lots more at the same price range - you will struggle to get separates for that. Also look at the energy consumption, that one uses 263 kWh/year (about £32), with separates, you are looking more like 340kWh/year combined (about £40). Not a massive difference, I know, but every little helps.
