Return 1 Day old Faulty Dell to PC World

Hi,
I bought a Dell Mini 10V Netbook from PC World 2 days ago.
I have already found a fault on the laptop. The wireless card will not connect to any Apple or Cisco AP's. I have rang Dell customer support and they tried all they could but failed. They said I would be entitled to a refund from where I bought it from as it is faulty.
If I go back to PC World and ask for a refund because product is not fit for purpose as the wireless does not connect would I be entitled for a refund?
Thanks

yes
if they deny with sending away for repair or activated software rubbish stand your ground and insist on a refund
try to remain calm(ish;))
and polite
also do some research on soga on the other parts of this site and its forums
also check out consumer direct
spurt out how soga applies conditions of "durability", "not fit for purpose" and "not of satisfactory quality". if they are difficult get trading standards involved and make them aware that you will be
pcw have known to be difficult about this stuffBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
Yes. They may test it though.Squirrel! If I tell you who I work for, I'm not allowed to help you. If I don't say, then I can help you with questions and fixing products. Regardless, there's still no secret EU law.

do they do that with the tech guys in store????
went into our new pcworld looking for a net book for my little sister (cheap as possible)
had a very amusing teenager trying to up sell me to those vaios with paper thin screens at silly prices, didnt have a clue what i was on about when i questioned him trying to sell me a model with 4gb of memory over 3gb whilst remaining on 32-bit vista.
he really didnt have a clue, i just went along for a laugh, all he could do was reiterate what is on the sticker thing. he was convinced that a 3hr battery life on a netbook meant it was a 6 cell battery.
i just cant believe the poor level of training some of your fellow employees have.Back by no demand whatsoever.0 -
thanks for your replies.
I'll be heading over tomorrow and see what happens.
The only worrying thing is that windows is used now under my name. But that isn't my fault. Had to be registered in the first place in order to use the machine.
Thanks0 -

yes ive had that used against me much, just simply ask, can they state the law, or even google it that states activated software revokes all statutory rights for faulty goods
they wont, as it doesnt exist and state that you DO however know the law making it your statutory right to a refund. (print off a copy of soga if you wish)
i do beleive its an offence to knowingly deny someone their statutory rights? may be corrected on that though.
just keep asking for higher up if needs be.
i highly doubt itll go that far
just be polite to Esqui and they may put in a good word..... lol
kidding about that last bit obvsBack by no demand whatsoever.0 -
My experience is that if they test it at 1 day old and they find a fault, you will have it replaced or refunded there and then (although they will try to give you a replacement).
They will not try to send away a machine one day old for repair.Dogs have owners...my cat has slaves...0 -

When you walk past pc World the best thing to do is keep walking. Badly trained and just push for warranties and other junk etc.0

I know alot of people slag of pc world here. But I just had some good experience. Went in and was approached by a young lady at the counter. Told her my problems and she happily gave me a full refund and most importantly no quibbles. I was in and out with a refund within 5 minutes0
