Best digital camera?

Hey thanks everyone - I bought the Canon A620 in the end for £181 inc. delivery & 18 months warranty, not bad! Just looking for the accessories now:
Mymemory looks the best for 1GB compatible card 15.99
Cases - probably won't find one under £10 unless from ebay
Think that's all I need?0 -

Yep - a spare battery is definitely useful.
Buy an original one if possible or at least a branded compatible like Hahnel as these come with a warranty.
Cheap "no-name" batteries may damage your camera as they are built to a less exacting standard and may not follow the exact specifications of the original batteries.0 -
Think Il'l hold out for spare battery for moment and just get the essentials. Will try to find a camera case and a 1GB memory card.
Can you tell me the difference in cards, like SD, XD, and MMC? Should I just get SD or MMC? They seem to be same prices and just as compatible. Am looking at My Memory - have tried the discount codes that have previously been posted in the forums but nothing seems to work!0 -
I think that your camera only accepts SD or MMC??
SD is a better format especially you can lock the card like a floppy!
When looking at SD cards be wary as some companies are cheap but they could be rebranded rejects.
Good companies include:
Lexar
Sandisk
Toshiba
Kingston
Dane-Elec
Fuji
I generally found that the Japanese cards tend to be more reliable as sometimes quality control on some of the Chinese made cards can be off but this does not necessarily affect all of them.
The best strategy is to find a card you want and then google it to see if there any issues.0 -

As already mentioned, your camera will take only SD or MMC cards. If I had to choose between the two I would go in for an SD card.
I've also answered your queries in this thread. G0 -
Hey everyone I meant to say that I did get the Canon A620 from Purely Gadgets in the end and have been very happy with the camera and service from the website, would highly recommend!0

liked my digital ixus tbh, I still have one of the 1st models released and its still fine.
imo you need to work out whats important to you and get a camera that meets your needs. For me size matters, doesnt it always, and I wanted something that I could slip into my pocket (or more frequently stuffing into my missus's handbag) without worrying about it. No point having a camera if you never have it with you!
tbh all the modern cameras are way better than my old one and my old one works perfectly, I cant see how you go wrong aslong as you get something aimed at your needs.
