Some help please....

Hi All

I am selling my car via ebay, the car is worth quite a bit ie approx £3k, I have requested cash on collection. The car is buy it now or best offer. This weekend we though we had sold the car the buyer was due Sat morning, as you've probably guessed they never turned up. After several phone calls to 'the baby sitter', who didn't know where she'd gone, when she'd left or when she was due back, I finally request she just let me know if they were coming or not, as I was waiting in with two children and a puppy. Ten minutes letter I get an email from her sister (on her user ID) saying that her cheque has bounced so she has no cash to pay for the car sorry. I have relisted the item, and reported her for non-payment. Basically I need some advice, should I request a deposit via paypal, before collection, to try to avoid a similar situation arising or am I just asking for trouble involving paypal???

Also I am being harsh with reporting her? I wouldn't mind but she had my phone number and I'd emailed her the night before asking her if everything was ok , but she'd never replied.

you can request a deposit
however i have never paid any deposit on listings requiring one
all i do once winning is contact the seller to sort out when to collect
i aim to collect a car within 48 hours
the problem you have is requesting a deposit doesnt really give you any extra protection
you wouldnt have got a deposit from that buyer either way
