My colleague purchased a hotpoint (afa64) fridge less than 4 years ago and it has currently broke down, well stopped working?
is there anything she can do about with regard to SOGA or does anybody know if there is an inherrant fault with this model number? As she is going to get a new one from the same company (a HP one) and i dont want to see her get ripped off?
Thanks

I think you would have an uphill battle trying to claim under the provisions of the SOGA, unless there is a proven history of a particular fault with that model.
As the item is old than 6 months, the onus would be on yourselves to prove there was a fault that is due to manufacturing etc (through an independent inspection/report etc). Given the item is 4 years old, unless someone comes up with any info on faults, I think you'd be better off paying someone to take a look at it & take it from there.0 -

Not really no. You would not be able to argue in court that 4 years was not reasonable length of time for a fridge to last without problems.
Just look into getting it fixed, more than likely it's something simple like a compressor failure. There's no point in just replacing a reasonably young fridge when the problem might be simple.0
