If the test socket is working, the rest is down to the householder.
Get a local electrician to fix it (much cheaper than Talk Talk or BT).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
Or reconnect it yourself. Only 2 wires in total, so probably one one has come adrift. Blue with white stripe to terminal 2, white with blue stripe to terminal 5. Job done.
BT will charge you £120 for doing that by the way.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Hi Guys,
Sorry if my earlier post was a little unclear. TalkTalk are responsible for the phone service up to and including the test socket on the master socket. Any faults with the faceplate etc are the responsibility of the customer and therefore this work would be chargeable. As I stated earlier we can look into the issue for Elfy properly on the TalkTalk forums where we will be able to access the fault report etc.
Debi25,
As your aunts service is working in the test socket then TalkTalk are not responsible for any repairs needed to the faceplate. We can arrange for an engineer to visit but this would be classed as a low volume request and it would be charged at £120 for the call out and 1st hours work then £60 per hour. It would be much cheaper to arrange for a local telecoms engineer to come and take a look at this or to complete the work yourself if you are confident enough.
Cheers
