Egg BT fee

I use Egg as a mule to get BTs into my bank account. But now that Egg are charging 2% for a balance transfer (with no cap!) I wonder if BTs into my bank account even when my Egg card shows a positive balance will still attract the BT fee.

If so is it worth keeping the Egg card?

I asked egg this question in February and received the reply that 2.5% is only added to promotional rate balance transfers and not on standard 15.9%!!! transfers. i have done two transfers since then with no fee but you might want to check this is still true or that you are not in a promotional period.

Is this 2% a recently introduced fee then? As I've only just applied for an egg money card on the basis of being able to mule money into my current account. Or is it still possible to BACs money for free but not balance transfer? If so would you have to ask for this specifically?

I think the fee only applies to promotional balance transfers from the Egg card rather than Egg Money.
I'm not aware of any fee for transferring a positive balance to your current account (either via balance transfer or BACS) from Egg Money.
I certainly haven't been charged one and I have done several of these transfers (most recently about a fortnight ago)
