Endsleigh valuable/laptop insurance

Have a couple of questions to which I hope some may answer. the laptop in question is worth £500. The insurance is the student valuables insurance with Endsleighl.
I need to get my laptop insured, but I am on placement and means that I won't stay in my permanent address most of the time, however I will move several times this year so don't know what to do regarding that. They charge £5 "administration fee" for each change, so if I changed address 4 times that'd rack up to £20, half the cost of the policy itself (£42)
Also I am wary of what insurers call "accidental damage". If I were to accidently breaking my laptop from a fall or from tripping over the charger or whatever, will it be covered? I am clumsy and I need clumsy-proof insurance.

Your lap top and you other contents generally up to £5000 are normally covered for FREE under your parents home contents insurance. It is often covered automatically so does not need you to notify of changes of address so no admin fees too.
Bear in mind the cover will normally exclude theft claims unless their are signs of a violent or forcible entry.
Get your parents to give their Insurers a call and ask what if any cover they provide and any restrictions0 -
wouldn't their premium go up and there would be an excess. the endsleigh policy is £42 and i guess there is about £50 excess0

It's normally included for free so the premium probably won't increase, their excess is likely to be between £50 and £100, however if you do claim it is likely to increase their premium by about 10% for a couple of years.
If it's free on your parents policy you have saved yourself £42 plus the admin fees which could negate any excess / increase in your premium if you actually claim. Have a word with your parents, get them to ring their Insurers and then you can all work out which is best for you0 -
i will look into it. what about accidental damage cover, what do insurers see as being accidental damage? will it actually cover me if my laptop broke?0
-
A contents policy or the Endsleigh policy will not cover mechanical breakdown, depending on your parents policy it may well include Accidental Damage Cover.
Accidental damage claims are things such as spilling liquids over it and dropping it etc0
