Hi All,

I purchased a Emachines Laptop from Comet just over 3 months ago! After about 7/8 weeeks the Card Reader stopped working then the mouse pad & then the USB ports! I took it back to Comet & they told me that there was nothing they could do as it was a software fault & I would have to return the laptop back to factory settings! I then spent ages on the phone to Comet helpline & Emachines who explained how I could do this wouthout a mouse! I'm not very techie so it took ages at my expense! I managed to get it up & running again & within 2 weeks the card reader stopped again, then the mouse pad! Again I contacted Comet helpline & Emachines who again told me to send iot back to factory settings, unfortunatly this time it didn't work! I then phoned them back again & was told that I would have to send it back to Emachines via DHL who would mend it FREE of charge if it was hardware but if it was the Microsoft Software there would be a charge of almost £70 :eek::eek:. What I would like to know is can they do this after only such a short time? I have had 3 laptops over the last 5yrs all from Comet & this is the only one I have ever had problems with! Have I got any rights where this is concerned? If I purchased this from Comet should they help me with this problem?
Thanks in advance
