Sainsbury's Credit Card cheque needed

Hi
Having read up on here about how to get 10 months interest free on purchases with Sainsburys credit card I managed to get one. When I applied I phoned to find out if I could raise a cheque to pay for my holiday as the holiday co would charge me £45 for 2% CC surcharge.
The chap I spoke to at Sainsburys said that wasn't a problem just go to a bank of Scotland branch who would raise one for me.
So, I went to BoS who looked at me like I was an alien - apparantly no such service exists!
I phoned Sainsburys today and they confirmed no such thing existed and no they would not be able to send me a cheque book as this was only available as a seasonal promotion every 6 months or so!! They can transfer the balance to another CC but charge me 5.9% which I'm sure didn't exist when I took it out.???
Arrgh help - I am now nearly a week overdue with paying for my holiday and am trying to work out how to get the £3000 off my CC for free????
Can anyone help or offer advice??
Please don't call me stupid - I'm new at all this stuff!! :o
Thanks

    You can't!

If you are paying by credit card to give yourself protection if something goes wrong with your holiday then pay a small amount (say £100) on the credit card and the balance by another means. In any case the protection does not apply if you use credit card cheques usually.

Otherwise you are rather stuck with paying the £45 or alternatively using other savings and then putting everything you possibly can of day to day spending on your 0% Sainsburys card.

    Sorry!

Smile :), it makes people wonder what you have been up to.

Even if you got a credit card cheque it would not count as a purchase (thus enabling you to get 0%) but as a cash advance (at 22% or whatever).

The only way to get the 0% on purchases is to use the card to pay for the holiday, which as you say will cost an extra £45.

Thanks guys seems I'm doomed to cough up the £45 cc charge by the holiday co. I do feel a bit of a wally for being so naive about these things.

Nah - it's the cost for all the family we're off to Cuba - not very MSE but we've had a difficult year so we've splashed out on (hopefully) a nice holiday!
