Any one else getting grief with SKY hd new EPG?

Finally got the new EPG (Electronic programme guide) on Friday. Rang Sky on Sunday to complain and ask if we could revert back to the old style EPG.

"No"

Well, as I can't use it anymore (to small/wrong colours for SSI users), asked to speak to the disability team.

Apparently, I WAS! So let me get this straight, I have a common disability, your new product is unuseable for me and there is nothing you can do?!?!

"We can exchangee your HD box for a Sky+ box" came the reply.

No refund of costs?

"No"

Words then failed me, which doesn't happen often.

    Sorry to be negative, but...

Why did you get a HD box if you cannot read the small writing? Surely you cannot see the extra detail that the HD box gives, unless it's a family box and there is only yourself that has an issue with your sight and the problem with the box...

A temporary solution for you is if it's a Samsung box that was updated recently, you can turn off the box at the mains and press and hold down the backup button, turn back on the mains and keep holding the backup button until it says "system software update - do not turn off". This should then download the old version back onto the box. This will only last a couple of weeks though until the main update stream gets the new version. Then you'll be stuck with it... sorry!
  • Common misconception that all sight related problems are the same. The HD box provides a sharper clearer picture on hd channels and programmes, which DOES help me. When the font gets smaller, it is harder to see as it is not so sharp.

It's like having a tv screen that is losing power to individual pixels, ok if it's a few and in your peripheral vision, but not when it's ruddy great clumps of them centrally! Try reading whilst only being able to see 2 letters at a time.

Anyway, DH is trying to 'update software' as I type, fingers crossed!!;)

I recently upgraded to Sky HD to allow my elderly mother weho has visual difficulties some extra pleasure. Since the new EPG has been introduced she now cannot change channels easily as she is unable to read the very small writing whereas she could read the old one just fine. To sweep9, please familiarise yourself with visual difficulties before making such an inane statement as above. many visual imparements allow folks to gain extra clarity and brightness from the HD programmes from with global vision whilst reading small letters on screen may be an issue.

I have normal vision and I find the new EPG much smaller and difficult to navigate and can easily see where it may be an issue for visually impared people

You can change the settings to get rid of the tv in the corner, it makes the writing as big as it is now.

Sorry, not sure how to do it but this is what my parents did
