Best place to sell a car quickly

Hi,

I've been a lurker for several years, but now need advice.

I need to sell my car ASAP as my OH has just got a company car and we have no need or, most importantly, space for two. Most of our friends have driveways for one car, so storing it is troublesome.

Can anyone recommend a company that gives good rates for buying in the Cambs/Herts area?

Thank you!

No dealer will give a (what you might consider) good price when buying a car.
They need to sell it at a profit.
Your best bet is to find the person that they would sell it to.
    I.e. sell it privately.
    Local paper advert?

Try webuyanycar.com. They are not known for being amazing but if they want your type of car then they are pretty good. I sold my Car to them in September and the price they quoted me on the website was well above trade in value. Even after the reduction they give you when you show up I still got more than dealers had offered.

It could be worth at least getting a valuation as I had sold my Car to them within a few days of needing to.

Try the Autotrader if you can put up with the possibilty of time wasters/tyre kickers!.you will probably get a better price than a garage would offer you.Just make sure you price it realistically but allow a bit for the haggling.
    Good Luck

  • The quickest and cheapest way to sell a car is to put adverts in the windows and park it in a highly visible area. Supermarket carparks are good, as are busy roads in town

You need to park it when car buyers are going to see it.

This has always worked really well for me, much better than paying for ads.

Piston heads will shift it quite fast if the car is decent and you're asking a reasonable price.

    Thanks for all your replies.

I was considering webuyanycar, but couldn't find any reviews of their service. If nothing comes from a trader I contacted earlier I may pay them a visit. I think circumstance (small baby and no spare time) would make lots of visits by private buyers inconvenient, and I haven't the room to keep the car at home anyway. Need a bigger house!

Get a quote on their website and see what it looks like. They only really offer good prices if its a Car they think that they can sell on.

And they go oh there's a tiny mark there, a little scuff here, we can only give you £x which is less than the price on their website. So be prepared for it rather than being taken in by their scam which expects you to think that you've taken the car too them so should accept what they offer.

get an idea of how much the car is worth, ask a dealer how much they would give you then advertise it somewhere in the middle, the first to view will buy if its honestly described and keenly priced. some one will take it off you.
