Reconnection charge

A few months ago I accidentaly cancelled my DD so we were late in paying our BT bill, before we had chance to pay it they disconnected my phone, I still had use of the broadband though, after paying the bill they reconnected it back again, so this month I got my bill and it said I had a one off charge of £17.25 after reading through my bill, they charged me for reconnecting the phone.

Can they do this, I was never told I would be charged for this, I knew I would be charged £7.50 for late payment but not £17.25 aswell.

TBH, I'd say £17.25 (OK, £24.75 in total) is very cheap in the circumstances.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
