My final advice would be to get some temp/full time factory work just to get some experience of the 'working life'. Maybe build up your confidence a little. Then, while your doing that, to find something more suitable.
Don't worry about the stigma of working in a factory or what ever, its only to sort yourself out, so keep at it. Don't let the debt beat you.

Then I'd suggest visiting the 'Debt Free Wannabe' board for further advice. If you haven't done so already then you need to send all your creditors a SOA (statement of Affairs) showing how much you have coming in, how much you have going out and therefore how much you can afford to pay them - probably a nominal £1 a month.
This is the best piece of advice in this thread and worth taking note of - you dont have to struggle to pay what your bank demands. If you can only afford a £1 token payment until you find work then the bank will just have to lump it! Get on over to DFW board an ask about an SOA and advice on getting the bank off your back.matched betting: £879.63

O yeh. The Op should just click his fingers right?
Tosh.
I would look at factory/assembly line work or something. It's tough out there. Today on the news RBS cut 3700 jobs!
Lastly thanks to matters that were out of his hands.
What? I didn't say it was easy but it's been 18 months.....
Give all the excuses you've got but I highly doubt its 'because of the recession', that he has to live off JSA for 18 months.0 -

You are absolutely right, the OP can't pay what he doesn't have and should be able to make nominal payments to the bank. And of course, there are ways that he can reduce his outgoings and spend less. However, the only real solution to his problem is to increase his income significantly and the sooner he does that, the better. The longer he stays on JSA, the larger his debt will be, the more bank charges he will incur thereby increasing his debt still further and even if he pays a nominal amount, the rest still has to be paid eventually. It does sound as if (I may be wrong) his debt is at a level where it could be cleared or significantly reduced - thus avoiding some of the long term financial problems that many of us on this site are experiencing, such as an inability to get cheap/any sort of credit - in a relatively short period time, provided he starts working soon. As a single, childless person (living at home, I think) he's not caught by the usual benefit trap of losing out if he works, and he can be flexible about when/where he works - so, yes there is a recession but it's hard to understand how he has been unable to find a single spell of work in 18 months. I do take your point though.0 -
Ok, 3 key issues.
1) Bank charges: Head over to the reclaiming part of the forum and see if somebody can help you to put a claim in for reimbursement as a hardship case.
2) Low income: Head over to the Debt-free Wannabe part of the forum for help in increasing income / reducing outgoings. Yes, getting a job would also help, even if it's only part-time.
3) Panic attacks: See your GP for help. These can be managed and if you want to overcome them you will overcome them.
Life can be unkind sometimes, but sooner or later you will work out that you have to take control of situations rather than letting situations control you.

Hey,
Thanks for all your replies. Wow never thought the thread would get this big.
Maybe I should have added I have now been working for 2 months, but there are more untold situations which is making problems worse. I did sell my car to, one I have now is about to fall to bits but does the job for now, and is cheap to run.
Since posting I have applied for overtime at work, and I am seeking another job to do after work. Everything helps.
I think when I posted I was just at a all time low, had some bad news today and I felt like screaming it out to the world "Whats going on!"
P.s I hated being on JSA so much, so glad to be off it now. And if anyone is reading this who is out of work, try calling Hays. They have got me my last 3 jobs.
Thanks to opinions4u with the quote "You're an intelligent individual. Don't be a victim. Take positive action and see positive results come your way." means a lot.0 -
