  • I have found Worlds Best Cat Litter excellent, it lasts ages and doesnt track everywhere, and its flushable, and although i tried okoplus, I find it better, but it depends on what you can get hold of locally and what you/puss find easiest.

Have you tried chick crumb? It's supposed to be exactly the same as Worlds Best but cheaper ... I mail order as I don't run a car so not been brave enough!

  • I have used a clumping litter and it was a nightmare! It stuck to the litter tray and when I finally managed to scrape it off it stuck stubbornly to the scooper. Has anyone else had the same experience? Since then I started using normal litter (just the value one from Tescos). It's ok and cheap. What are the benefits of more expensive ones? Is there a real difference making it worthwile spending more?

    Spudette - I'm not stalking you....honest!

Another vote for Okoplus! It was my first choice and I'm so impressed I'm not interested in trying others! It lasts ages.

Cheaper ones tend to be more dusty and less absorbant I use Oko for the following reasons:

Voted "Best Buy Litter 2006" and "Highly Commended Litter 2007/08" by Your Cat magazine, Cat's Best OkoPlus is the only wood based clump-forming, biodegradable eco cat litter on the market. Made from 100% pure organic fibre, it binds liquid and odour effectively inside the fibre and boasts up to 3 times higher yield than mineral-based cat litters. It is compostable and 100% biodegradable.

Golden eagle - I put quite a deep layer in so the wee doesn't touch the bottom - I just get loads of round balls to scoop out. As I only scoop out the solids n stuff every day - it lasts for ages. It's about £7 ish.

If you are having to use a hooded tray to keep the smell in then ask yourself if you'd like to stick your head in there. No? :p Imagine being a cat with a much more sensitive nose ... I have a hooded tray as it's better for keeping the litter contained, but the hood is off at the moment and we have zero smell. If you are cleaning the tray out daily and you still have smells then look at litter and/ or diet.

Point taken and flap duly removed ;). Diet shouldn't be a problem. Feed them a variety of RC, JWB, Burns and other decent brands.
