Riads in Marrakech

I'm going to Marrakech on the 15 Nov for 5 nights and wondered if anyone knows of any good websites for nice Riads in or around the Mediana?

Had a quick look on what's on offer and suprised at what it costs Eur 80 - 100+ for nice accomodation!! Would have thought that cost of living would be a lot cheaper here!!

Any advise would be appreciated.

Thanks

  • We are going to stay at the Jnane Mogador. It's about 48 euros per night (not including breakfast...but who needs that anyway with the Jemaa el Fna outside?) and it is recommended in a lot of places - Lonely Planet, the Guardian, AA Spiral Guide, etc. They all call it the best budget choice. We're going on the 19th so who knows, we may cross paths!
  • Hi, the prices you have seen are about average for a decent riad, you can get cheaper but it depends on what type of experience you are looking for in Marrakech. There is a nice selection of riads on the following website https://www.riadsmorocco.com

I can highly recommend the Riad Safa not sure of the prices but they werent overly expensive. Perfect location in the northern medina.
They have got excellent reviews on tripadvisor.

We stayed at Hotel Scherazade which has a similar style to a riad - double rooms start at 23 euro (and go up to 69 euro, ensuite from 27 euro). It is only 1 minute from the Jemaa el Fna.

For some riad style (i.e in a traditonal house) at the real bottom end Hotel Essaourira as rooms from 9 euro (owned by the same hotel as sjo1jcl suggests but aimed more at budget travellers).

Doubles rooms in Morocco start from as little as 5 euro so Morocco can be very cheap to travel in (if you are prepared to rough it a bit!)

One thing to remember aout Morocco is many hotels and riads do not come up on online booking sites. We found the recommendations in Lonly Planet and Rough Guide to be quite reliable.

If you want a nice Riad then we stayed at Riad Dar One for 5 nights in September and I can highly recommend it.

There are some other boutique hotels with offers on at the moment on the the mrandmrssmith wesbite such as 4 nights for the prices of 3.

It is a wonderful place and I know you will have a good time!
