The new cylinder will not have two bosses for heating elements unless you want to bypass the boiler, which I would not advise. It will have one boss at the top designed to take a 27" heater.

The price quoted would be approximately right for the cylinder plus heater - not the fitting, so beware ;)

As far as I can see there is not stat on the cylinder, it is fed purely from the boiler. The cylinder is actually on a shelf so is only about 2' 6" high x 18" wide, so is no way big enough for a bath.

Is it easier to replace the cylinder and have it set as a proper immersion?

30" high cylinder should still give you enough hot water. You don't say if its a back boiler heating your tank if the cylinder is really old it may be primatic and have a bucket sized heat element inside which would seriously effect its storage capacity, it could also be full of muck from years of having fresh water run thru it. Go for at least a 36" with a 42" being a better option, bear in mind that the bigger it is the more it costs to heat fully. Adding a willis immersion heater (exterior type) will give you a bit more control over the amount of water you heat compared to an internal heater.
