They have their own currency called the lev which you have to buy over there.
Also take plenty of mozzie spray, you`ll need it.
As for security,it`s the same as everywhere else,be alert and don`t have your wallet in your back pocket.0 -
I went to Sunny Beach on a cheap break a couple of years ago. It was in May, at the start of the season, and even then it was hot.
For shopping, only thing to remember is that everything is fake. Some things will be priced so that you know they are fakes but some will be priced like the real thing. I bought what I thought was a genuine pair of Raybans, only to have the logo on the lens rub off after a few weeks (It is etched on the genuine ones.) They even fooled an optician here in the UK who sells the real thing.
For eating out, find a place you like and stick with it. I went to the same place every day as I couldn't face the food in my hotel. It was a 4-star hotel in Sveti Vlas and was clean and had good facilities but the food was horrible. Eating out and drinking was really cheap, though.
A visit to Nessebar makes a nice change though I expect it will be very busy in August.
I think I'd only go back if I were staying somewhere like an Iberostar or a Riu.0 -
Hi,
Been here loads of time, Mozzies are not a problem. Take the Bulgarian Lev the best rate is M&S or over ther but dont use the booths on the streets offering higher rates, these rip you off.
Its a great place,

I agree with the other poster, food isn't that great.
We were served the type of food you would make if you were a very hard up student, and not very nice at that!
Do go outside the hotel if it is grim and stick with wherever is half decent!
The accommodation also doesn't seem to be of the standard we have here, so go for the highest rating you can afford.0
