*Sigh* - Went in to post a 3kg package last week - was offered £18 or £10 for signed with £200 insureance. I thought this was cheap but she went and checked "yes, definately a signature" so took the £10 option
Come today, got a mail off a buyer "no signature was required" and "screen has a ghosting on it" - so he thinks not only have i scammed him on the postage, but the laptop isnt as described
Any tips? The post office has let me down by getting its service wrong and possible also damaged the laptop. Has anyone else had to claim £180+ for a 2nd hand item?? Bit worried as is only my word that the laptop was fine before i sent it. I dont want to loose my 100% feedback....

I'm assuming it went as a standard parcel with additional payment to insure up to £250 as that is th eonly way I can get close to £10: http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?catId=23500714&mediaId=23500721
Special delivery would have been £18.50 for up to £500 insurance.http://www.royalmail.com/portal/rm/content1?mediaId=22700549&catId=400026
If it went as a parcel it will say so on your receipt and will have a tracking number (not for you but for the RM and the sender cannot access that tracking), although it is not signed for.
It is always worth having an idea what you want before going to a ne wpost Office, I usually check out my postal options, what it is likely to cost and what I need to insure for, before I list. However in this case at least you have insurance.
Unfortunately getting the post office to pay up for damage to an LCD screen is going to be difficult if not impossible. All you can do is get back to the buyer immediately and make sure they retain all the wrapping and boxes as they will need to provide this to the RM as how well it was packed will feature in your claim.
