A question to any experts out there please.
Have seen a Mazda 3 hatchback on autotrader at a very good price from a car supermarket type of place.
The description states 'hpi checked category D '.
two questions really:
1.Having 'googled' category D ,it appears that the car has been written off or at least sufferd serious damage. Is this what category D means?
2. When buying from a trader(dealer/supermarket etc) do they all carry out hpi checks as a matter of course?
The price of this car seems 'too good to be true'...1 year old, less than 8000 miles and less than £7,500.Any thoughts please?

cat D isnt always a serious fault or accident,it could be something purely cosmetic.
the price will reflect the fact its cat D so should be a few hundred cheaper than one not written off. if you intend keeping the car for a good few years then it will have very little impact when you come to sell it on i imagine....work permit granted!0
