Just after a bit of information please......
My brother received points on his licence for speeding about 6 months ago. When he did he notfied his insurance company and they didn't increase his premiums but noted the points. since then he has had his renewal again no increase was mentioned due to the points.
He called this week to change the car on the policy and the advisor advised that it had been missed and that he should have actually have received an incease and now they have actually told him that he has to pay them back for the past 6 months????
In my opinion (maybe wrong but...) they would have had to notify him of increases to his premiums giving him the optin to ot out of there policy and go for another. He told them as soon as he recieved them and if they missed it then that their problem.
This should fall somewhere under treating customers fairly surely???
I don't know if he's just had a jobsworth on the phone but he's calling them back and I'm hoping he can tell them where to go.
Any advice appreciated.
Thanks

If he can prove that he did notify his insurer prior to renewal then I'd say it was the insurer's lookout not his.0

that's it it was the rep on the call that pointed it out stating that 'he's good at spoting this type of thing' now they want him to back pay I just can't see how they can inforce it??0

I don't think they can .... but of course it is up to him to prove that he told them & of course he is taking out insurance for a different car ....
