Questions about car boot fairs

Hi
I have lots of bulky lowish value items to sell and I was hoping to do a car boot fair. I was wondering if anyone could offer advice on the saleability of various things.
General crockery, glasses etc
Nik naks (like oil burners and candles and candle sticks, vases etc)
Curtains, some still in packets
Cushions
Lamp shades, nice contempory ones
Small bits of kitchen equipment like a wine rack and a drainer
Some videos
A couple of childrens games
Small items of furniture like some book shelves and a small table
Is it worth going to try to sell these sorts of items? I have no idea how to price the furniture having never really seen any at the fairs myself (these are prob the best items).
Thanks
PS I guess there is no point in trying to sell music cassette tapes?!

In my area, music cassettes do sometimes still sell if they're cheap, e.g. around 25p each, 10p for any singles. Likewise, videos can sell for about 50p each. Small items of furniture are usually about £5-£10 for bog-standard items, perhaps a bit more if they're solid wood or unusual in style, size and/or quality. Most bric-a-brac has a good chance of selling if the price is right, but ordinary loose glasses can be hard to shift.0

I think a lot depends on how much you are prepared to sell the items for...most things will go if they're priced cheaply enough. I find china, glasses etc doesn't shift that well unless it's the rare, collectable stuff.. all the dealers and ebayers come circling round like chain smoking vultures as you're setting up to grab that priceless piece of sylvac or whatever it is. Videos are also sometimes difficult to sell, as a lot of people have the same ones - the same with children's games and clothing - however if you're prepared to sell the videos at, say 50p, when a lot of folk charge a £1 (i think i'd need an ambulance if i ever forked out £1 for a secondhand video!!) then they should go.
Do bring the cassette tapes...lots of people (me included) still have a cassette player in the car, and will pay 10p or 20p for a tape they like.
I also find it helps to be clear what you will and won't haggle over - set a "reserve" price for items you feel you could maybe sell elsewhere, or simply feel are worth more than the buyer is offering...some buyers are experienced and ruthless hagglers, and unless you are fairly clear what you are prepared to accept then they walk all over you...
Oil burners etc can be a bit slow to go, but if you price cheaply and maybe do bulk deals then they will probably sell.
Good luck, hope you make some money0 -
sorry Theogirl, i forgot..if i'm selling a bulky item i will offer to deliver locally for a few quid...i find it often tips the sale...or i offer to look after the item until the buyer has finished walking round the rest of the bootie..or i wil help carry it to their car - sometimes people are put off if they can't transport the item really easily...
