Hopefully that was directed at the ones who do it for fun and not the unfortunate ones who have little choice.

I just hope the day never has to come where anybody is in that much need and have no money that they have to do this to feed them or their families. If you think some people enjoy it, then think again. Ok some do it when they dont really need to but my point is the ones that dont do it for fun and they shouldnt have to.

My family matters to me, so pride or not, dignity or none I will do whatever i can to provide and put food on the table and if the situation came about where there was no other option, id bite the bullet and go for it. Thankfully i have a good job which entitles me and my family to a comfortable lifestyle. I consider myself fortunate.

After all, in my opinion it would beat sitting on the street begging.
4 years of entering competitions daily and not a thing won. What a fix.

Technically, taking anything from the bins is theft. In America, this is known as 'dumpster living'.

I used to work in a Tesco and the waste used to make you weep with frustration. The credit crunch has made them all tighten up a lot though.

In fairness, it must also be said that they also have to be very careful with regard to litigation. Attracting hordes of tramps also presents a security problem too.

I have more dignity than most, so would never reduce myself to raiding supermarket bins, risking cross contamination and food poisoning, just to act like a hobo.

And don't give me some smug "never gotten ill" type crap, just because you haven't yet, doesn't mean someday you won't..and if you poison your family, you only have yourselves to blame.

You've gone to a lot of effort to protest about it....sure you're not secretly diving into wheelie bins yourself? :)

Surely we should not judge others in the ways they have to resort to to feed there families....

People who have lost there jobs, families and homes have to resort to desperate measures!!

There are unfortunately the large population of this country living on the streets and judgement from those of us who have homes , jobs and the ability to spend freely in supermarkets surely arent in a position to judge those who have to do what they can to survive or feed there children!!

    Yea not quite free food...

I work in Loss Prevention and can say on many occasions we have caught people "Dumpster Diving" majority of these people ended up with a fixed penalty of £80 and a Civil Recovery Bill for around £90. I admit some of these people have gone to more extreme conditions like breaking locks etc, however, its not just the fact that the person is tresspassing but also using the Supermarket goods. If someone were to get a disease, food poisoning etc from the goods the Supermarket would be liable! In some cases causing unnecessary court hearings thats why its taken so seriously. I know not everyones the same and some people would understand if they eat something from a Supermarket bin and get ill its not the Supermarkets fault! However, some people just see an opportunity!

Remember if its thrown away...its rubbish!

No go at you, I know you doing your job but the systems we have sometimes i struggle with ...
