Laptop Problems

OK all done! It was starting up much quicker but has slowed down again now. I've checked the start-up menu and I've got
ASAntiHacker
SuperAAntiSpyware
Windows Defender
Avira
Malwarebytes
all running in there now.
Which do you suggest I keep - I have to admit I'm a bit wary of Avira now after this little glitch!
Can I just clarify something else......way back at the start the original 'virus' was picked up in my samsung folder - does that mean I introduced it from my phone? I haven't connected the phone since just in case. Is there anything I can do to protect that or do you think it was just coincidental?
Thanks for all your help with this :beer:0 -
Every chance you phones infected yes
Id leave Avira there id I were you as NONE of the freebie av programs deal with 'malware' very well
I know nothing about the 'anti hacker' program so id suggest you remove that
Im also suspicious of 'last pass'
You also appear to have at least 2 'backup' programs running which isnt wise ~ Acronis and Lenovo
In fact you have a TON of lenovo things running whcih is feel is completely unnecessary
Things I feel are not needed are ~
C:\Program Files\DDNI\DIBS\DDNIService.exe
C:\Program Files\Diskeeper Corporation\Diskeeper\DkService.exe
C:\Program Files\Intel\WiFi\bin\EvtEng.exe
C:\Program Files\LENOVO\HOTKEY\FNF5SVC.exe

The ones in bold are the ones id guess are slowing the system down
I dont think theres ANYTHING in there that nees to be run 'all the time'. Anything you do want to run can be run as and when YOU want it to
By the way ~ DONT fix them in hijack. Ive posted them so you can possibly look and see what you think is or isnt needed:idea:0 -
Thanks - the only one I'd be worried about stopping would be the rescue and recovery one because that's the only thing that got me into the system when all this started!
LastPass is just a password programme that I installed from lastpass.com - are you suspicious because you've not heard of it or because you don't think it's safe?
All the Lenova stuff is just what's set as default afaik.
So if I want to get rid of all the above what's the best way?
I'll get rid of Acronis - anything I need to leave running with Avira from the list I gave or just get rid of all the others?
And finally........any suggestions on making sure the phone is clean?
Thanks0 -

Lastpass ~ im suspicious against ANY program that keeps passwords. But I said mainly because of the 'toolbar' Is the toolbar needed for it to run? if not then id disable/remove it
Getting rid of all the above would probably be a long process and I cant help that much as im unfamilar with most of them
Id leave everything in the list on your computer save the ANTIHACK program
Phone clean? Im sorry, youve lost me there
:idea:0 -
Open ccleaner, goto TOOLS and STARTUP
That lists everything that startup with your computer (Give or take)
By clicking 'disable' then you will stop it from auto starting at bootup
DONT disable something your unsure of (Graphics cards etc will probably be in there)
The NERO INDEXING and BACKUP services would need to be shut down in the SERVICE menu in the 'control panel':idea:0 -
Well I've stopped a number of those from running but daren't do most of the lenovo ones because I don't know what function they serve either

The bit about cleaning my phone was to see if you knew of any anti-virus programmes I could download directly to it to see if it is infected - I just said it in shorthand and expected you to understand!
Thanks for all the help - you've been a star! :T0 -
haha
My bad (Id forgot all about the phone)
Not really
Best I can suggest is to plug your phone in via USB cable
Then SCAN the phone with malwarebytes (Right click the phone and the option should be there):idea:0 -
iobit advanced system care. thats a utility to clean up your pc it scans for viruses and things itself why have you got ccleaner installed too as the both do the same job?? thats where you have 9 warnings its picking up it virus scanners and system scanners.

They dont. They 'clean up' by removing dead registries and suchlike. Theydont remove ANY viruses or ttrojans (Unless they reside within the 'temp' folders):idea:0 -

Thanks - I've got rid of IObit, Nero and the anti-hacker.
Lenovo is the make of the laptop - used to be IBM - but not sure what is necessary and what isn't so they'll have to stay
