Hi
We need to insure our car for use in France. Is it automatically covered on our UK policy, as we are in the EU, or do we need to take out extra insurance. If so, does anyone know where we can get a good deal.
Thanks
Jackie

Hi
Any UK policy will include the minimum cover required by law in other EU countries.Basically that is third party only cover.
If your car is covered comprehensively in this country then your own insurance company should be able to provide comprehensive cover in EU including France.Give them the dates of your trip. Some companies will not charge any extra for a short extension and others may want around £25.00 for a two week trip.

Thanks for the information. I phoned Direct Line Insurance and they want £55 for one month's cover. We need longer than that so it seemed a bit expensive, but if there is no other way we will have to pay up
Thanks again

If you are going abroad regularly switch insurers to Budget or Kwikfit or Liverpool Victoria who all cover at least 90 days per year abroad under a comprehensive policy at no extra charge.
