    Morning
Welcome baby Adam and baby Erin:D

Good Luck Nikkit, fingers crossed this is it for you now:)

I have been planning how to fit ds3 into the big bedroom with ds1&2, they can't wait and have been helping decide how we should arrange the beds etc. I need to go to Ikea and get him a chest of drawers to match the boys and a matching bed and mattress too, although he will probably be in a cot first as he will only be 15mths old when he first moves rooms!

I am also (finally) starting to feel kicks although they are still quite light and dh still can't feel them yet...It is very strange as I am usually being booted like mad by now (Anterior placenta is the reason, according to sonographer) I think we might have chosen a name...although not 100% sure as we seem to keep playing around with alternatives all the time, well did until I suggested this one:D

Hope you are all well xx

nozza - congrats on the arrival of lil Adam :D x

Guinea - glad you had a change of heart and are able to re focus on bubs now. Its weird I was initially really concerned about mat leave and being uber bored, but have been off two weeks now and so far am ok :D Think the impending arrival and excitement is keeping me going :D

LMF - wow you obviously are fitter than me, I know its your own place and all but I'd have been no use to anyone these past few days let alone a week before due date. Hope V Day went well for you, work wise x Oh and am so with you about feeling 80!

Nikkit - fingers crossed this is it, this time xx

red - yeay for all the planning and feeling kicks :)

Kindof - I had the same kinda night as you, feel shattered and so achey now. Also my nose is still blocked and that usually goes once am up. Hope you have fun with your visitors x

Well am in a CBA mood today! think its the tiredness setting in, not sure what to do with my self. May just sit on the sofa and watch tv, tho a complete lack of movement doesnt do the pelvis any favours either. On the bright side the pain in my shoulder has gone :) Oh and cant remember if I mentioned but had a letter to say that I dont have to pay the parking fine, woohoo :D

Yay for feeling kicks mel :) What does it mean when your placenta is anterior? Glad you might have chosen a name as well :)

Just a quick question - I've been having pain in my lower back and hips now for the last few weeks, usually worse at night and when i'm walking about, just noticed tho these last few days it seems to be in my pelvis as well. Does this sound like spd?? if it is then what do i do about it? do i need to see my midwife about it or is it something i'd just have to cope with? x

  • luceb84,
i have the lowerbac pain and hip pain it feels like my hips are broken at night.
Im full term and only started getting this a few weeks ago.

It does no harm just telling the midwife about it.

    Self-help tips

There are things you can do yourself to ease your pain:
    • Regular pelvic floor and tummy exercises can ease the strain on your pelvis. Get down onto your hands and knees and level your back so that it is roughly flat. Breathe in and then as you breathe out, squeeze in your pelvic floor muscles and at the same time pull your belly button in and up. Hold this contraction for between five and 10 seconds without holding your breath and without moving your back. Relax the muscles slowly at the end of the exercise.
    • Avoid moving your legs apart when your back is slumped or you are lying down. Take care when getting in and out of the car, bed or bath. If you are lying down, pulling your knees up as far as you can stops your pelvis from moving and makes it easier to part your legs. If you are sitting, try arching your back and sticking your chest out before parting or moving your legs, as this also helps to stop the pelvis from moving.
    • Avoid pushing through any pain. If something hurts, if possible don't do it. If the pain is allowed to flare up, it can take a long time to settle down again.
    • Move little and often. You may not feel the effects of what you are doing until later in the day or after you have gone to bed.
    • Rest regularly by sitting on an exercise or birth ball or by getting down on your hands and knees. This takes the weight of the baby off your pelvis and holds it in a stable position.
    • Avoid heavy lifting or pushing. Supermarket trolleys can often make your pain worse, so shop online or ask someone to shop for you.
    • When climbing stairs, go up them one step at a time. Step up onto one step with your best leg and then bring your other leg to meet it. Repeat with each step. Only use stairs when you have to.
    • Avoid swimming breaststroke and take care with other strokes. You may feel swimming is helping your pain while you are in the water, but it could make you feel worse when you get out.
    • When getting dressed, sit down to pull on your knickers or trousers.
Good luck i know how your feeling (((hugs)))x
