Travel Insurance Cruise With Pre-existing Condition?
Smag
We (two adults two kids 14, 12) are going on a Mediterranean cruise in May next year visiting EU countries.
My Wife had a malignant melanoma removed over three years ago and has been discharged (all clear) from the hospital for well over two years. I have not had any quotes as yet for cruise travel insurance and would like to know if her condition would be termed as pre-existing and if possible where best to start looking, I am guessing that websites will just refer me to a phone number to call for medical screening. Maybe a dedicated broker?
Thanks
Steven

The question asked is,
" Do you have any pre-existing medical conditions"
If you have suffered a condition that has run it's course of treatment and you no longer seek medical advice or medication and have not for more than 12 months means as per most insurers medical warranty you don't need to disclose.
Have a look online at some of the policy wording and read the medical warranty. :j0 -

More poor advice from pastra.
You will find that there is a separate question covering serious illnesses, along the lines of "have you ever had treatment for any of the following: stroke/heart condition/any form of cancer/transplant/dialysis"0 -
Try LV on line - you can do the medical screening via the website. UK based call centre and very helpful staff.0

You shouldn't need to pay anything extra, if a company quotes you extra go elsewhere. Check the policy wording (particularly the medical declaration), you normally only need to declare conditions that don't agree with the declaration - all declarations are different.0 -
Just watch out for any policy that mentions the name AXA - be it underwritten by OR AXA claims assistance.
I could write a book based on my experiences with them. They may well be competitively priced, but I promise you that in the event of a claim they will duck, dive, lie and delay payment until the bitter end.
If you are unfortunate enough to be taken ill whilst on holiday, you'll find yourself battling with them - at a time when you are least able to.
Read FHBrit's comments on these boards. He/she is an expert, and will back up what I say. Trust me, AXA is the pits and, to be honest, I'm amazed they can legally get away with it.0 -
All you ever contribute in this forum is rants against axa.
Why not set up your own axa rant thread in the rant forum so that you can post in it every time the mist decends instead of adding an axa rant to any thread you come across related to travel insurance?
Or tell us why you can write a book about them?0 -
Yes, you're quite right. I do take every opportunity to slag off AXA and warn people, but then again, I'm not alone am I?
I started contributing to these forums because I found a lot of the information (good and bad) very useful. I wanted to give something back by letting others benefit from my experiences. I'm not sorry if that offends you.
Those of us who don't have a good word to say about AXA, have very good cause. Presumably, those of you who take offence also have reasons of your own - which we'll just have to speculate on...........0 -
It would be more helpful if you told us why they are so bad, than just rant at every opportunity, no matter whether a rant is relevant or not. (And there is a rant thread specially for things like this!)
You refer to FH Brit being an "expert" (in what field?) - he recently told us we should read the axa policy document to see their "vast loopholes designed to get AXA out of paying any claim".
But when given the link to the policy document and asked to show us the loopholes, he chose not to bother. In fact your so called expert ends up being accused of just spamming us. None of this helps us come to a decision.

I would love to share my story with the world. Unfortunately, at this moment in time, I can't - for legal reasons.
FH Brit is a debt collector, based in the USA. When AXA doesn't pay up, he chases the people who were foolish enough to take out policies with AXA. Yes, pay the premium, sit back and wait for AXA to do nothing, then find that YOU are being chased for monies AXA should have paid out - and we're not talking peanuts.
Enough on the subject. I'll take care of myself. I've figured there are some people you just can't help.0 -

And you refer to a USA debt collector as the "expert" who agrees with your unspecified book full of rants!
You aren't concerned about the legal implications of your rants, yet hide behind the law and refuse to help us all by telling us the problem(s)!0
