Tool sharing website?

Hi, I need to rotavate my allotment to try to get a fine tilth. The cheapest quote I've found for hiring a rotavator for one day is £55 which I can't afford. Anyone know of any organisations where people share tools etc?

I think you'd have problems with that tool even if there is a site....transport ans safety issues would be hard ?

What about asking the other allotment people to share the hire and use for a day or weekend? Maybe they dislike digging in this cold weather ?

I'd make a little note and pop one on each allotment with a contact number, costs nothing to ask does it ? One of them may actually have access to one and be able to help that way too.

  • The smaller rotavators would fit in a car boot.

I have a Small Honda Tiller which has an all up weight of not more 30 lbs to do the plot which are easier to use . I hope you are up to the task in hand , the type of machine and ground will effect the final result - The going rate was £85 to turn a plot by a pro in our area. If you can get a demo before use by the dealer/ hire shop - rear tine and driven wheel with reverse/ two fwd gears - 6.5hp will test you to the full - besides the petrol you will need good ale at the end of a session.
  • Don't know about sharing tools, but I've found a quote for £45 .. can't post the link but look for a site called erento, who do all kinds of garden tools.

you dont say where in the country you are, someone near by might be willing to do it for a small fee. i know my hubby offered to do someone on our allotments for the price of the petrol.
