What are these thumbs.db files for please

They appear all by themselves in folders that contain other files, music or video, and when you move a folder you are asked whether you want to move the thumbs.db as well.

They're normally hidden files so you've presumably changed your options to show hidden files. They contain the thumbnail views of your photos / videos that display in Windows Explorer if you have the settings to show thumbnails.
At least, I think that's what they are.0 -
Thumbprints, these are the little pictures etc of your own pictures that show up when browsing directories. You can delete them, but they will be remade if you then look at the directory again if you have the show thumbprints setting switched on.0
