Flower I don't know what to say...I suppose the only consolation you have is that your friend is at peace...I'm really rubbish with words, sorry

Thanks Angelic - all the kind words really do mean a lot.

To be honest i rubbish with words when it comes to things like this. She was one of my closest friends, im just glad she didnt suffer for too long. She was only kept alive by machines for a few hours. To be honest its still sinking in, i've known her for so long and to think she wont be around anymore because some idiot thinks its ok for him to drink and drive.

Don't let your memories die with her, you'll always have those regardless of whether she's here or not and (hopefully!) you were on good terms with each other so you've got nothing to regret (I mean, you hadn't had a silly arguement and never made up) and maybe you could visit her family once and a while to stay in contact. It's amazing how easy it is to lose touch with people with the amount of technology we have these days.

Thats awful, why on earth would you not have your kids strapped in.

My friend died in a car accident aswell, the other driver was a drink driver and walked away with only cuts and bruises. Whilst my friend was in intensive car for a few hours before they made the decision to turn the machines off.
Its the funeral on Friday really dont know how im even going to get through it.

Oh Flower I really feel for you hun, one of my friends died 3 years ago now from a drink driver!!! He worked for the highway maintenance and had decided to stay and do some overtime as he'd just bought a new house for his partner and their 8 year old son.
It was early hours of saturday morning and this person:mad: was p*ssed and stoned, he was already banned from driving from previous conviction and had no insurance. He went straight into my friend, killing him instantly!
He got 2 years in prison for it, thats it! oh and banned from driving for 3 years.
The only comfort is knowing that he didn't suffer but I hope that the little !!!!!! who did it, dies a horrible, slow and painful death for what he did.

Yes im so grateful that i have happy memories of her. I know her parents quite well. Within our immediate close group of friends there were 5 of us, we were always popping round to her house - she still lived with her parents and they were always incredibly tollerant of five 21year girls squeeling and chattering away.

Her parents have actually asked me to say a few words at her funeral. I am scared about that, but i want to do her proud.

I do have some amazing memories of time we spent together and i hope to god i never forget.

:mad:Thats nothing. The way i see it this man has murdered my friend. I dont really know the situation at the minute, all i know is he was arrested at the scene after he tested positive for alcohol in his system. I hope he rots in jail, but sadly i think he will get off very lightly.

Obviously you're angry and upset at his man and I'm not trying to defend him but he may also have loved ones who's lives he's also ruined now through not fault of their own.

Do your friend proud at the funeral, I'm sure we'll all be thinking of you on Friday.

The justice system seems to be more on the side of the guilty than of the innocent victims!
I think they should rot in prison too!

You still have all the good memories of your friend tho, nothing can take them away from you.

I agree with you here. I am so incredibly angry at him, but i've heard that he had a 'baby on board' sign in his car. Thankfully there was no child in the car but the thought that he could of had an innocent child on board aswell. I hope he does go to prison, but now his family will be the ones suffering aswell.

Do your friend proud at the funeral, I'm sure we'll all be thinking of you on Friday.

Thank you, and thank you everyone for the kind words. Im sure you will understand it is still incredibly raw and difficult to talk about. OH is trying to take my mind off it now with a movie night, hes being so good and patient with me, so i am going to spend some time with him now.
If losing my friend has made me realise anything it is that life is far to short.
