Positive praise for Barclays!

Since the co-op totally messed me about now waiting three weeks since i tried to open the account have had to start again since they "lost" my ID documents in branch. I went to Barclays met with a personal banker who opened an account for me and savings account with a card. Went through everything and he couldnt have been more helpful!! Left with account number and sort code in hand so can finally transfer my wages and set up direct debits after 3 weeks of problems caused by having no account. He has also set up online banking and mentioned rules changed recently regarding the online banking so will wait and see i no a few posters have had probs whilst undischarged. There hasnt been much praise for Barclays so thought i should add this. Might be different since i was in a small town branch not dealing with a call centre but im soooo grateful for getting it all done in one go and excellant customer service.

Good for you marmalady! Let us know if you do get the online banking (once you're actually logged in!). Did you get a debit card or cash card?

    :j :j

  • Well done marmalady....& Barclays. When they get it right then it is very good.

Lets hope someone from Barclays is reading this & hopefully they can take note & offer consistantly better customer service.

I think its the cash card visa electron on the main account but also got a savings account which comes with a card just for use in Barclays ATM but will be useful for the extra money for things like car tax, maintenance etc to go into til its needed.

It's a VISA debit card, not VISA Electron (http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/jsp/brccontrol?site=pfs&task=homefreegroup&value=12865 - you can see a picture of it). :)

You will get the PIN and card in 2-3 days time. Next week, you will receive your online banking details (membership number first, then passcode).
  • hi there i im undischarged and barclays gaveme internet banking no problem
  • I think maybe your wrong on that one book ~~~

Forgot about the RM strikes. Apologies. :o

If it wasn't for that, obviously it will come quicker.

I'm quite happy with my Coop account but may consider opening a Barclays for savings - can you do this online? I don't really want to go in local branch (they all know me from my pre- BR days and call me by name!

Yes, you can open a savings account online with Barclays.

You could open an E-savings Reward account. It's has the highest interest rate out all the other savings account that the bank offers. The account offers a cash card. http://www.personal.barclays.co.uk/BRC1/jsp/brccontrol?task=homefreegroup&value=14936&target=_self&site=pfs
