Calling Polish ex-pats!

Didn't know where best to post this. Calling all Polish ex-pats, what do you most miss about home in terms of what you would like to buy over here that you can't.
TIA

I'm not polish - but I love the food :) More varieties of perogies in regular mainstream stores.....yum :) and a BIG YES to the proper cabbages - with leaves big enough to make a decent pan of cabbage rolls!

    A return flight ticket.

But you can buy those over here...then get a return flight back! :D

There's practically nothing now that isn't available in the UK in some way, shape or form. If the Polish shops aren't selling it - then it's because it isn't possible to import. Trust me - no-one is going to buy from a UK owned shop if they can buy the same product from a Polish-owned shop. Likewise in Spain with horrible British expats.

Certainly, I'd say catering to the Polish market is pointless now that many of my countrymen are on their way home ;)
You're right, its the return portion that is seemingly not sold in Poland!

Really? That would be why the statistics are showing that A8 nationals are leaving the crisis-ridden UK in droves?
    From Poland...with love.

    They are (they're)

The books are sitting just there on the floor.
  • It is a fact that the Polish diaspora is second only to China. In fact there are 38 million Poles living in Poland and 40 Million living outside of Poland.

Please try and get your facts in order before making 'amusing' comments.

The Polonia is estimated at around 20 million maximum - and that includes people who may have Polish great-great-great grandparents that never actually lived in a Polish state. The actual amount of Polish people born in a Polish state now living abroad is significantly lower - maybe around 2-3 million? Bearing in mind that there are estimated to be around 5.5 million British-born people abroad...

But let's talk about the British diaspora - I would say that it's a fact that there are far more people with British ancestory outside of the UK than inside it.

Sorry, ethnic slurs don't really add up when you get the facts wrong ;)

All the Polish people I know (Which is quite a few) are all hard working people, they are a good laugh, love living in the UK and are greatful to live and work here. If they could have a similar standard of living in Poland they would prefer to live in Poland. They also take the time to learn to speak the local language which is something UK expats often do not bother doing

There are plenty of UK ex pats living all over the world, they have often moved abroad because they can earn more or have a better standard of living abroad, is there any difference to the UK expats abroad and the Polish living in the UK?

Polishbugspender one of my Polish mates has promised to make me a special Bigos at xmas, it sounds very hard work to cook and not very appealing but I'm assured by the other Polish people I know that it is tastes lovely!

I'm told you boil (various types of) cabbage for 4 days to make it, is it worth the wait?
