Egg - Still in shock

I sent my letter requesting a PPI refund off to Egg on 15/10/09 and received a letter today advising me that they're winging £1200 to my bank account. The best £1.30 I've ever invested! I was ready for a battle too, I'd almost be disappointed if the result wasn't so good!

Well done you!!
I claimed and got turned down before the PPI hype started, left it 6 months claimed again and got it all back just like you. I spend x2 £1.30 but I'm not bitter!

When I started reading the posts on this forum egg were one of the worst for upholding claims, I have noticed recently from posts they are getting fairer & a lot quicker. perhaps they are bengining to realise that 'power to the people' is the new banking slogan - I think I might make this my sig - feeling left out not having one0

Hi there
So they turned you down in trying to make a claim for something then?
You should be eligible to complain and request they refund you your ppi, especially as it seems worthless to you.
The link below of Martin's include useful guidelines or reclaiming, and template letters, if you need help from there please post up.
Good luck.;)

Here is my letter...
Dear Sir or Madam,
Account number: XXXXXXXI purchased the above policy from you in June 2004 but now believe that I was mis-sold this policy for the following reasons.
I was not given the correct information when the policy was sold to me; your salesperson implied that taking out the policy would assist my credit application. Furthermore, your salesperson did not give me full information on what the policy would and would not cover and why this particular product was necessarily suitable for my circumstances.
Egg Banking Plc have been fined by the FSA for failing to treat your customers fairly when selling Payment Protection Insurance and I do not believe that my policy was sold in my best interests.
Unless you can satisfactorily justify to me that the policy was fair and reasonable I am requesting a full refund of all premiums, and subsequent interest on these payments, that I have paid to date. As I believe I have been deprived of this money I also expect 8% statutory interest, the amount a court would award, to be added to any payment made.
I look forward to a full and prompt response to this letter and for the matter to be concluded within eight weeks or I shall be contacting the Financial Ombudsman to investigate my complaint.
Yours faithfully,0
