People are only pointing out to those that may be unaware, that these photo shoots do end in the hard sell, i have seen it myself and it really is hard sell.
Its only fair that its pointed out that this WILL happen here.
I've taken the liberty of correcting the error in your post hope you don't mind too much.

I had one of these - cut was great quality.
Make up was great for the photos but I had so much on that it caked and after a while I looked more wrinkled with it on than off.
    Nails were awful.

Photos were the best I've ever had done in 40 years.

Didn't get a great deal of hard sell, but it's very likely that you will want to buy some because they will be very nice photos.

Initial price was £100 per cd photo (prints £50).
I paid £200 for 5 in the end which was half price plus 1 free one.
    So they will come down.

So no hard sell for me but it's very likely you'll want them becuase it's unlikely you will have any that are as nice.

My friend and I did the New Id Studios and I took my digital camera with me and when we were left alone in the photo studio to get changed we took loads of our own pics!!!

Can't you just say you don't want the photo shoot? I wouldn't want my pic taken to be honest. I hate being in front of the camera lens. So, if the photo shoot wasn't optional, the I'd pass on the whole makeover.

Seems the offer is not on anymore.

  • Bought this kind of thing last year as a Christmas present for a friend - was a BOGOF offer so I went too. ;) Paid a lot more than £9 though!

Was New ID and, yes, did get the hard sell; good haircut though; make-up girls worked on commission so the 'bargain of the day/only available today offer' does come up (:o paid £17 for something similar to what I can now get from Avon for £3!); photo session itself was very rushed (no time to even change into the extra clothes they suggest you take) and really hard sell when they try to flog you the photo's. We'd paid in advance for extra photo's so were adamant we weren't going to pay any more..... In the end they gave up but it did sort of spoil the experience because you're definitely given the impression that your wallet/credit card is more important than you are...... Shame!
Make the most of everything in life (especially Avon ;))
