My Virgin email account has recently changed as virginmedia have merged systems. It now shows "conversations" rather than emails and is a pain in the butt. Is it possible to change it back or change the layout to a more conventional format?

I assume it has moved to the Gmail interface for your account now?
Is it actually a pain in the butt, or have you just not got used to it yet?
If you want more traditional email, you can use email software with it.0 -
Wht not download your email into Outlook Express/Windows Mail/Thunderbird, rather than Virgin's webmail interface? No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks robt and macman.
I've been using it for a couple of weeks hoping I'd get used to it but still not happy. How would I go about using email software?0 -
If you are running XP or Vista, then Outlook Express or Windows Mail respectively are already installed on your PC as part of the operating system. You just need to set up your email account in the program.
If Virgin is using GMail, you also have to go into the Gmail settings and enable POP3 email, AFAIK nothing else has to be changed in Gmail. No free lunch, and no free laptop

I've set up Outlook Express and there was a good set of instructions in the virgin (Gmail?) package to help me along. These instructions included telling me to set up my incoming mail as an IMAP server called imap.virgin.net. However when it tries to connect it says the host imap.virgin.net could not be found. Any ideas?0

imap.virginmedia.com surely?0

The instructions said to match the last part of your email address and this could be virgin.net, virginmedia.com, blueyonder.co.uk or ntlworld.com. Part of their recent changes have been to integrate all the different systems. In my case this was virgin.net.0

Have you tried imap.virginmedia.com ?0

I hadn't but I have now and it works. Thanks again. Just need to get used to Outlook Express now but at least it looks better. I've just noticed it hasn't brought my address book/contact list into Outlook. Any suggestions for this one?0

Thats Odd, Mine hasn't changed to virginmedia.com. How do we go about changing it. I am still on blueyonder.
Its been a few years since virgin have said they will move all email accounts.
Are they currently trialing it in certain areas?0
