  • cheers for this, I was using the free version, IOBIT is excellent freeware that gives excellent results, even the freeware version of Advanced System Care from IOBIT is better than most maintenance softwares which are paid versions... Thanks OP! :)

Why not just use the free Microsoft anti-virus product they just released. It's called "security essentials". It's received great reviews and it's totally free forever.
  • because microsoft isnt trustworthy, you might want to download PROLAND WINVULSCAN , which will scan for patches that microsoft has on their site, but dont tell you that you need them... I get all windows updates and then i have to download 3rd party software to be able to get the rest of microsofts updates...obviously they have these other updates but dont tell me I need them.... i wouldnt trust microsoft with any security utilities..
  • i use microsoft windows xp but what im saying is they lead me to believe im all 'secure' by getting all the updates but actually they dont give me all the updates , i only believe i have all the updates because the windows update site is saying there arent any updates now, when really i can go download another 10 critical updates (with the right vulnerability scanner) so why dont microsoft just say i need 11 updates, instead of making me believe i only need the 1 update they offer me? If i have to install another program to find these unpatched vulnerabilities then this is why i dont really like to trust microsoft with my internet security....

    http://www.pspl.com/download/winvulscan.htm try it for yourself
  • dont get me wrong, I want to be able to switch to another operating system, but i have used microsoft for years, it just means that to be 'properly secure' you need to find and install some of the updates manually... I know it seems like i contradicted myself, but I use microsoft but dont trust them lol ... I trust myself to make my own pc safe obviously microsoft doesnt get it right every time...
