Can anyone tell me whether this quote seems fair please

En-suite
Take out the suite
Take off paper
Cord hole for ex fan
Taking off the wall
Put pipes in wall for shower
Fit shower
Fit new suite
Tile bath area
Fit v/unit for sink
Plaster where tiles have been
Vinyl the floor
Fit shaving point
Plaster walls
Total £2250 Cash

I am supplying:
Adhesive
Grout
Wood
Copper
Plaster
All other item you must supply.
This is a estimate only. If you have any question about the estimate
please ask.
Payment must be paid on completion of work on each bathroom carried out.

Also - when they say estimate - how likely is that to change??

Depends what his day rate is. Allow say £250 for materials, then there is £2k for labour. On a guesstimate of £170 per day there is best part of 12 days. Seems a long time to do an ensuite. Also, as a tradesmanm I'm always dubious about guys taht always want cash. if he is reputable, he will take a cheque. Have you had any other quotes. As its an estimate, the figure couls actually change by any amount. It could end up costing you three times that.

Thanks for the advice - I hadn't really noticed the "cash" part! I think I may give him a wide berth which is a shame cause he was a really nice guy (that said he has been emailing me daily to find out if we want to use him- hmmm)

Why? I frequently ask for cash these days but customer still gets a proper invoice.

With a cheque the bank holds onto to my money for far too long and its all very well talking about reputable tradsemen - what about disreputable customers who write rubber cheques?
