If you are thinking of a new electric system you should also consider an air or ground source heat pump instead. See the LPG & Heating forum.

Presumably with a big heat store heated on E7?

Far better to consider an ASHP as suggested above IMO.

For this type of system your best bet would be an Eco10 metering system, as the two other posters mention an ASHP would be more beneficial as they are far more economical to run. Best bet would be to do a bit of research into the pro's and cons of both systems before making your choice.
  • hi thanks for that. had a look at the thread which was very informtive, i don't have anywhere that i could place the heat source outside, at the moment i have the old storage heaters on economy10 and have a plumber friend that can supply and fit the whole new electric system for £1000 which is a good rate i think, would the system be any more expensive to run than the current storage heaters i have.
  • Hi,

I wonder if you could tell me a bit more about the system you are getting fitted, That price sounds very reasonable.

We have a 2 bed house, We removed storage heaters 2 years ago because they were knackered and very expensive.

Gas is not really an option as the mains is too far away so we are currently using panel heaters, They work fine but I feel we would benefit from putting in a proper system of some kind.

    Thanks

    What sort of electric system?

Don't forget that any form of electrical heating system(other than storage heating and heat pumps) is the most expensive form of heating to run that it is possible to buy.
