Home insurance question - broken tv

Hi was wondering if anyone can give me some advice, I apologize if this is a stupid question, I am just in desperate need of help!
My LCD was accidently broken last night when it was hit with a game controller by a friend (soon to be ex-friend perhaps!)
I have buildings and contents insurance, however in my policy I don't have accidental damage, or personal possesions cover included.
Does this definately mean my tv is not covered? Does my contents insurance count for nothing?
Kind Regards,
Alan

Read the wording carefully - there is usually accidental damage as standard on TVs, I think, even if you don't pay the extra for it elsewhere.0

Thanks for the quick reply.
In the contents standard cover section of my policy, it says television sets and their aerials are covered. It then goes on to give a list of what is not covered, accidental damage not being one of them.
Would that mean the tv is covered? I am thinking that would mean it is, but need to be positive before I go calling them and they tell me it isn't and I need to fight my case.0 -
Hi,
I'm in the industry so can help you.
Who is your policy with and I'll have a quick look0 -
Awesome!
Admiral, BDML Connect Ltd is the independent intermediary just incase that effects anything.
This is much appreciated by the way!0 -
Our contents insurance automatically covers you for accidental damage to glass, mirrors, stereos, TVs, PCs and other home entertainment equipment. Including additional accidental damage cover on your policy will ensure that you’re protected against household mishaps like spillages on your carpets and sofas.

So yes - you are covered subject to any policy excess that applies. This is the part of the claim that you pay and on most household policies it will be £50-100. Your schedule will tell you.0 -
You'll be fine.
The standard contents covers accidental damage to TV's, Sky boxes etc etc so you'll be fine. (Page 12 of the policy doc)
Wasn't a wii controller that hit it by any chance???!!!
Admiral aren't the best company to go with though for other things so be a bit careful.0 -
Thanks very much mate, you've saved my weekend!:j

Good interesting thread.
I had a large tv that was broke a while ago and never bothered to claim as I didn't have accidental damage with my policy. I was dusting around the back and as i turned I knocked it off the stand. could I have claimed for this. ?? if so now I'm kicking myself. ouch!!0
