I have XP Home, yet firefox takes ages to open a new tab with a new site. I have done this on Explorer 8 and it open immediately, so it is not a problem with my pc. Why has it suddeny gone SO SLOW?
Thanks for any help. Never had this problem before!

Try updating to 3.5.4 and see if that helps.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

A few suggestions......
Clear your cache/cookies etc.....
Update FF. Version 3.5.4 is now out. Click 'Help' > 'Check for updates'
Plus, have you installed any new extensions lately? If so, then maybe disable the recent ones to see if they are causing probs.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Start Firefox in Safe mode (click on start menu, all programs, mozilla firefox) and see what happens0

The past few releases of Firefox have been really bloated and generally a lot slower (just do a google search and your find lots of reports) It also seems to be resource hungry when left running for a long time especially on older machines. there is a lot of information out there about this. getting rid of some extensions can help.
I actually downgraded to 2.5 as an experiment and the speed was greatly improved. Though I rarely now use firefox due to these issues. It may be worth looking at other browsers if the upgrade doesn't work
