Is Autarky a decent dog food?

The ingredients seem to say so, but it seems too good to be true at the price of it! Is it a decent food, what brands is it on par with?

I used to use it until I got a dog who can't tolerate chicken (I wish they made a non chicken version).
I'd say it was a high mid range product. Better than Bakers & Pedigree etc, but not as good as Burns. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0 -
Autarky is good for the money - CSJ is worth a look too!0

Autarky is one of the better brands in that price bracket. My only issue with it is that it has a fairly high maize. Maize is a known allergen and therefore can be problematic for some dogs troubled by allergies.0

CSJ has some foods with over 20% chicken, at good prices (no maize in this one):

also, some gluten free varieties if gluten bothers your dog:

I am buying this for my dog, when our existing stocks run out, as a place down the road has just started supplying it -

My dog is not bothered by maize or gluten, but a few dogs are - however, if your dog looks well on a food and poos are ok, then it probably suits them well!0 -
Dog food wise I would highly recommend Salters Dog Food. It is a southern company run by Stephen Salter and if you have any problems you can ring him up and speak to the owner direct. His Food is Competitively priced and very good ingredients. I used it on my dog and his coat changed within a week it really is a good food.

HTH:j I can't do it all on my own, I'm no Superman!:j0 -
I read once that Autarkey is a working dog food and therefore there is no VAT on it which makes it cheaper than other dog food.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0
