I actually think it is a great idea and, at the risk of making an assumption, a 40 year old who has only just got married and doesn't have any children may have had a very busy career and all the money in the world to buy what she wants when she wants it. Gifts that have had all this thought put in to it are the best!

You are spot on, finding a lot of small things and having her open 40 pressies that she wouldnt normally buy for herself will be part of the fun.

My dear brother presented me with a gift bag which contained the following: 40 watt lightbulb, 40 denier tights, a box of 40 t-bags, everything was in multiples of 40! Right at the very bottom though was a lovely gold chain and matching bracelete (so not so bad after all!) - made me laugh.

My MIL is 60 soon lol, not sure i'd be able to get 60 pressies though, its in april i'd have to start now.

What about 40 reasons why your friendship with your SIL has made a difference to your life.

Another one was a cheap memory stick and fill it with memories like piccies, stories, poems and recipes.
