Sil is 40 in a couple of weeks.
I want to do her a "40 things for a 40 year old" hamper of age related things.
The challenge is they have to be really cheap, went to Poundland today and got vitamins, bath pillow, muscle rub and a few other things, but still need 26 pressies
She is newly married but no kids, so can be a bit fruity
Any ideas peeps

Why do her a basket full of cheap things rather than a single more expensive present - does your sil like cheap things?Never let your sucesses go to your head and never let your failures go to your heart.:beer:0

Asda do their travel size cosmetics for about 99p ish - maybe some face cream/moisturiser?
If you're struggling then a badge to say "I am 40" is another present!
I bought my sister a decorated champagne flute for her 40th earlier this year, but that wasn't cheap cheap (about a tenner)
How about books? if you go to the works or somewhere similar, you might be able to find some books that would be appropriate?
Photo frames? If you have a tesco near you - have a look for those magnetic frames that are on offer.
Scented candles? They are always a nice little gift.
And if you get stuck, how about IOU vouchers - give her a voucher for you to cook a special meal for her and hubby? or something similar?
Good Luck!Why does nobody say Thank You anymore??:mad:Debt Free as of September 2011 :jSealed Pot 2009 number 334 - £100 Saved! yey!!Sealed Pot 2010 number 334 - £116.51 Saved! Yey!! YIPPEE!!0 -
I think its a nice idea - its something you can put a bit of effort and thought into rather than just getting something naff and unimaginative.
A few years ago I gave my eldest sister a little basket labelled: Big Sister Repair Kit. It contained little sachets like face masks, foot soaks etc as well as 'wonder bum' tights and a voucher for a day at a local spa including a massage.
Some of my thoughts.... that needn't hang around too long to become clutter
- hope that there's chocolate in there ...
- mini bottle of wine
- maybe some of the old fashioned sweets from her youth.... sweetie necklace or whatever
- cotton wool balls - coloured ones are nice, but harder to find
- Seeds to grow herbs e.g. basil
- longlife AA / AAA batteries are always useful
- a lottery lucky dip ticket or scratch card
- a 'fun' pen for her handbag e.g. with a fluffy top
- pocket diary for next year
- a little bell so that she can summon 'service' from her other half !!!! :rotfl:
- candle snuffer
- indoor sparklers
- Clares Accessories type of stuff.... temporary tatoos .. body stickers ....
- box of Resolve / paracetemol
Happy shopping....0 -
Reading Glasses, magnifying glass, Rolf Harris CD, fountain pen, jar of ink, sweets in the form of false teeth.
On the subject of books, you can get those little ones that are "jokes for a 40 year old" or something like that.
How about some big knickers, or something we were trying to find for my BIL (but couldn't cos they're too expensive for men!!) - incontinence pads!
Have fun and good luck. What is this life if, full of care, we have no time to stand and stare0 -

Its nothing to do with her liking cheap things, we did it a few years ago and she loved it, and appreciated the work that went into it :T
Just cos its cheap, doesnt mean its tat, everything will be wrapped seperately with a jokey label. This is just for a giggle.
Also this time of year is really expensive for me as i have 5 birthdays between now and xmas
Thanks for the ideas folks, keep em coming0 -
You could try some of the beauty counters in the department stores ... they might give you some samples of some good quality products for free.0

Lush Bath bomb / Massage - called honeymoon. £3
