Italian Buyer !!!

I've just sold a mobile to someone in Italy (who has a 0 feedback score for reference). I've sent him the invoice and he sends me the following message :- -intestazione per assegno non trasferibile
-indirizzo completo (yes you've noticed firstly it's in Italian !!!!). Translated it via a website and it comes out as :- heading for check nontransferable - complete address

    my suggestion, walk away...................
how long has the user been registered on ebay?
how much was the mobile worth?
if its a lot, and he's not been on there long, then it could be a scam!

cheques in euros will cost you around 7-18 quid to cash in if you do decide to do this, just make sure you get confirmation that any payment method used can NOT bounce
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

IF you get some strange non-transferable cheque, and IF it is in Euro's or whatever, take it to your bank, don't cash it, but ask how much it would cost you to cash it. If it's anything above zero, don't cash it, email the buyer IN ENGLISH saying you cannot accept that form of payment without a surcharge to cover the cost of accepting it. (That sentence alone should drive the buyer dotty!) Then hold on to the "cheque" until/if the buyer contacts you again with the added funds.

Did anything in your listing lead the buyer to think you would accept this kind of payment? -- Remember, they don't read the listing, they see what they want. USA buyer sent a personal USA cheque in $ instead of £. Same numbers, just wrong currency. Never heard from them again.

I hear what your saying been almost a day now and heard nothing back after asking him to reply in English. If he does want to send a cheque I will make it clear he'll need to pay any additional costs (I'll check with my bank beforehand and let him know up front).

I'm thinking of a couple of options :-

    1) Telling him he has to pay by paypal and nothing else
    2) If I don't hear anything from him in the next day offering the item as a second chance offer to the next highest bidder (can I do that is the only concern I have without hitting trouble with Ebay)
    3) Relisting, but not sure how long I'll have to wait before doing that taking Ebay rules into account
