got a letter from Capital one saying account is clear and closed, only taken three attempts to get one sent!

what does clear and closed actually mean
it doesn't for example mean that if you have a CPA then it will be rejected0 -
I'd assume to remove the entry as a live account on their credit file cos Cap1 usually tie up unecessary credit thus meaning someone lese may refuse you.
A closed Cap1 account will be better looking than a live one that isn't being used, surely?
My assumptions of course.

paid remaining balance, waited for it to clear then asked them to close the account and send me a letter confirming. in the meantime cut up the card...felt great.0
