Im a 17 year old driver and my car was parked in the Co-Op carpark in Montrose, Scotland which is run by CP Plus, It was parked there all day which i know was wrong but its happened now. I have been left with a charge £40. I have read through these forums before and im under the impression that i can not be chased for this money. I would just like any advice as my mum who doesnt drive is adament this has to be payed.

Hi Sam, welcome to MSE - I've moved this to the Parking Board :)

You're right about not having to pay as this is from a private parking company. Ignore until they write to the registered keeper.

If they do contact via post, feel free to advise the registered keeper to ignore some more. If you search the forums you'll see past experiences are that these parasites go away after a few letters as they realise they have no chance at court.

I would advise you click edit and remove any reference to who was driving the vehicle as some parking company trolls with too much time and not enough brain cells use what may seem like vague information posted on forums to use against victims of these scams.

    Hi Sam

Just tell your mum not to pay it. I got two "invoices" from them last year, for the same car park in Montrose, on two different days. They sent me the usual threatening letters, but I just continued to ignore. They gave up after a couple of months...

  • Sam,
You are correct when you say they can't chase you for this money.
Show your mum this forum if she doesn't believe you. If you or your mum become worried by threatening letters from CP Plus then post back here for advice.
  • P:lease edit out all references as to who was the driver. These details should never be put on any forum when talking about ppc invoices.
