"on friday im sending someone to get the cheapest face paint possible and maybe some costumes for us to do on saturday"
so yeh theyre providing it
i wouldnt have thought its good for a food outlet, after all the makeup will be done over the table where everything is prepared:) clean.....
If you're all agin it, stand firm and all refuse, he can't send you all home (unless he wants a VERY busy day!) Is there a head office you can contact?
BTW, I would refuse to purchase food from an outlet where the staff were dressed in Hallowe'en costumes, on religious grounds. You could point that out to him that he will lose some trade and I can't see how it will increase business. Plus whose idea of fun - if he wants to dress up, let him!Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
Tell them that you are Pagan and need the day off on religious grounds to celebrate Samhain.0

Not just the makeup, you'll have bits falling off the costumes if they're cheap naff ones.

The world's gone mad. This afternoon I visited someone admitted to a hospital medical assessment unit. Someone(s) had decorated the unit corridor for Halloween with lots of handmade pictures of blood dripping off skeletons .....................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Staff dressed as Zombies strolling around the mortuary ?
Nurses crouched over a bubbling cauldron ?
Doctors going into a trance and calling on the spirits for help ?
Nope - I think it might be me tomorrow lodging a formal complaint when I visit again......................I'm smiling because I have no idea what's going on ...:)

Just go really over-the-top on the face paint and costume. That way noone will recognise you and you can act as you please.0

Go to work in costume, dress as a McDonalds employee, see what your boss has to say about that. :rotfl:0

i think it is an implied term of an employment contract that the employee must obey all reasonable and lawful instructions given by the employer. i think you have to grin and bear it... or be in breach of contract!
not true(well from my experience it isnt true) as in my past jobs ive refused to wear fancy dress on the basis that A i dont like it and B i wasnt forced to wear fancy dress. Surely it should be optional to dress up. Fine if other people want to dress up then thats they're choice, im not a fancy dress type of person and i cant see myself being forced to wear fancy dress anytime. We were even encouraged to dress up by being told we had to pay 50 pence if we didnt dress up or dress up and not pay 50 pence.
OP it depends how much you value the job, its only for 1 day so why not dress up, do you have to priovide the kit or is it provided for you0
